Last Saturday, we drove for two and a half hours to the Culp Valley primitive campground to watch the Perseid Meteor shower. What an amazing experience! The campground was crowded, but we managed to find a nice, quiet, isolated spot. We sat in the perfect warm breeze for hours taking it all in. The skies were clear, and the dark skies of the desert made star-gazing alone an awe-inspiring experience - with the meteor shower, and it was nothing short of spectacular!
We got back home and crawled into be at 3am - Worth it!

The moon rose just after 11pm, so the pictures David took later in the evening were brighter and the starts weren't as visible. Still quite amazing though....Can you find the small meteor that shot through the sky just as this picture was being taken?
The Milky Way - earlier in the evening.
